What is Fired Arts?

Fired Arts is a craft cafe.  Like any good cafe, you can enjoy great quality refreshments and delicious cakes.  Unlike other cafes, however, you can paint, stamp, stencil to your heart's content and generally make a bit of a mess  (we don't mind a bit).

Do I need to be artistic?

Not at all.  We have everything you need to create a masterpiece including tools, stamps, stencils, books of ideas and helpful staff.  After all, some of the most effective designs are often the msot simple.

How much does it cost?

We charge a studio fee of £3 per painter plus the cost of the item you wish to paint.

Pots start at £2.50.

Mosaics cost £7 for a 4 x 4 tile and include all the materials you will need.

Do I need to book?

It is always advisable to book at weekends, during school holidays and towards Christmas as these times can be very busy.

 

How long does it take?

Allow yourself at least one hour.  It all depends on what you decide to paint and how intricate your design is.  Younger children usually don't take as long.

There is no time restriction on your visit and, if you don't finish, you can always come back at a later date.

 

When will my pots be ready?

We glaze and fire all items on site in rotation from the time they were painted.  The firing process takes nearly a full day and so items will be ready in approximately one week.  At busier times, such as school holidays and Christmas, please allow up to 10 days before collection.  If an item is required urgently then we will do our very best to get it ready for you as quickly as possible.

Do you serve drinks and snacks?

Yes we do.  To help those creative juices flow we offer an irresistible selection of refreshments from freshly ground coffees, hot chocolate, speciality teas and cold drinks to delicious cakes and flapjacks.

Be sure to ask for a 'special hot chocolate' with marshmallows and flakes!

If you would like something a bit more substantial, then we can offer an Afternoon Tea.  This is priced at £12 per person and need to be pre-ordered a few days in advance by phoning 0114 2670797.

Can you accommodate parties?

Absolutely.  Parties at Fired Arts are great fun for children and adults to enjoy.

We can accommodate most party sizes, from just a few friends up to a large hen night or child's party.

Do you run workshops?

Yes we do.  We run great courses for kids and adults which include silk painting, batik and felting.

Can you take the pots away for painting at home?

Yes.  All we ask for is a small deposit for the paints which is refunded on return plus the price of the pots you wish to take with you.  We then charge a combined fee for glazing and firing
